Classic dwarf selection that is compact and suitable for small gardens. Easy in the Northeast: start indoors in May and transplant into fertile garden soil in full sun no sooner than June.

These hardy plants produce tons of small green sprouts with intense flavor that mellows and sweetens in cold weather. They should really never be harvested at all until after several frosts. Sprout-laden stems can be stripped of leaves and kept in a cold cellar or barn for weeks and even months, becoming sweeter all the while.
