BLACK CUMIN SEEDS

Nigella sativa

ORGANIC

An ancient species whose unique black seeds have long been considered a panacea. Found in the tomb of Tutankhamen, discussed in the book of Isaiah, and revered by both Hippocrates and Dioscorides. Ripe seeds taste of fennel, nutmeg and black pepper. Common to the contemporary cuisines of the Middle East and South Asia. Seeds contain both an essential oil and a fixed oil that are profoundly medicinal and nutritious.

Seeds may be toasted and crushed for use in Za'atar or ground like sesame seeds for qizha or a black tahina. Requisite for authentic Garam Masala. Fresh seeds are superior to almost any of those available at traditional markets and are easily procured from the garden.

Surface sow in situ two to four weeks before your last frost. Water frequently just until established. Suitable for diverse climates. Seeds require up to 100 days to mature in cool maritime climates, but typically fewer where summers are hot. Avoid coddling for best results.

Packet contains around 500 seeds.
