YELLOW TABASCO PEPPER SEEDS

Capsicum annuum

Poorly named, because it is fairly unrelated to the true Tabasco, but a very worthwhile little pepper and equally suitable for saucing. Super compact 1' plants produce tons of ¾" fleshy golden pods over a long season. And they are HOT! Use fresh pods for hot sauce or dry for seasoning. Like Zimbabwe Bird, the dried pods look great in a little jar on the kitchen counter. Really delicious fragrance and flavor.

Start seeds indoors around 8-10 weeks before the last spring frost. Tuck seeds just beneath the surface of moist soil and press to keep seed snug. Mist generously with warm water and cover with plastic. Kept warm (around 80°F) and moist in bright light, seeds will typically germinate in about two weeks. Prick out seedlings once they have true leaves to grow on in individual pots at warm room temperature in bright light. Fertilize weekly with dilute seaweed and/or fish emulsion. Harden off and transplant into the garden or a container outdoors after all danger of frost has passed.

These attractive and compact plants are happy in a pot and can be spaced fairly closely in the garden. They seem to appreciate flowering companions. Tuck some Petunia integrifolia into their bed or containers!

Grown by Farmacie Isolde.

Packet contains at least 20 seeds.
