WAPSIPINICON PEACH TOMATO SEEDS

Solanum lycopersicum

Fuzzy pale yellow saladette fruits are exceptionally sweet. More appropriate on a fruit and cheese plate than in a salad or sauce. Totally unique and especially sublime in a hot summer. Productive indeterminate plants can produce buckets of 2” fruit.

First available as ‘White Peach' in 1890 and likely bred and selected by Elbert S. Carman, then editor of the Rural New Yorker magazine. Reintroduced via Seed Savers' Exchange in 1996. The Wapsipinicon is a river in Northeast Iowa that defines the western boundary of the geographically unique ‘driftless' region. The name is supposedly Ojibwe and means “river abundant in swan potatoes". Swan potatoes are also known as Duck Potatoes, the seeds for which you may find in our catalog!

Take care to avoid watering or fertilizing tomatoes while they are fruiting. This is especially important for white and yellow tomatoes with sweet flavors. Too much coddling will result in insipid fruits.

Packet contains at least 15 seeds.
