SILVERY FIR TOMATO SEEDS

Solanum lycopersicum

Another peculiar old Russian heirloom, first introduced to the trade by the amazing Marina Danilenko, a Russian collector and grower that maintained and disseminated many dozens of our most cherished tomato varieties after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

These beautiful determinate dwarf plants produce nice uniform scarlet fruits very early in the season. In Iowa we grew the plants mainly for the extraordinarily gorgeous finely cut foliage, but here in the Northeast we appreciate the tomatoes too: meaty and tangy and versatile. Not the best tasting tomato by a long shot, but very good and very reliable. Highly recommended for short seasons and cool maritime climates. Perfect for containers, although best with a little trellis to prevent them collapsing under the weight of heavy fruit set! In 2022 we grew these in shale during a hot dry summer and they still provided the best crop of any other tomato that year. Worth growing at least once.

Packet contains at least 20 seeds.
