The coppery cousin of Rossa di Milano, these onions have the distinctive shoulders typical of traditional Italian onions as well as excellent sweet flavor both fresh and cooked. Stores exceptionally well. 

Color of the cured skins to our American eyes is fairly blushed, but this is not a red onion by Italian standards, and the flavor has more in common with our sweet yellow onions than any red. Unique and absolutely beautiful braided! Long day selection from Switzerland. 

Start these seeds indoors in flats as early as January. Transplant seedlings as soon as the soil can be worked. Harvest as soon as top growth begins to die back. Cure in the sun for about a week. Allow tops to dry completely before braiding.
