Introduced to the trade by Richo Cech of Horizon Herbs. Collected from Pemba Island in the Zanzibar Archipelago in 1990. Unique in every respect. Fragrance and flavor are heavily perfumed. Foliage is serrated and scalloped. Color is usually green, but sometimes blushed with violet. Parent of Frank Morton's Opalescent basil.

This basil is impervious to downy mildew. The powerful floral flavor is magical in coconut based vegan and seafood curries.
