Tall Sweet Alyssum
Tall Sweet Alyssum
SWEET ALYSSUM SEEDS
Lobularia maritima
This is the tall fragrant species Alyssum native to coastal regions of the Mediterranean. These plants can grow to 12" and possess one of the sweetest scents in nature. Flowers are white and very attractive to predatory insects, making an excellent companion in the vegetable garden.
The sweet scent and somewhat loose cascading habit make this alyssum perfect for mixed patio containers. Sheer spent flowers for repeat blooms. Flowers are edible.

Alyssum is easy from seed, and can be sown directly into the garden with reasonable success if kept watered, or started in flats. Around six weeks before transplanting, press seeds into moist soil (no more than a dozen seeds per cell in a 72 cell flat). Kept warm and moist in bright light alyssum seeds will germinate within a week, sometimes two. Thin to around 3 seedlings per cell. Harden off and transplant anytime before they've become root-bound. They can tolerate some frost, and may be transplanted along with head lettuce at the same time that you’d plant peas and radish seeds.
Packet contains a minimum of 500 seeds.
