BABY BLUE EYES SEED
Nemophila menziesii
An easy, beautiful annual, this diminutive species features small flowers in an unlikely shade of true baby blue with a white eye. Sown directly into the garden in spring, they germinate rapidly and bloom promptly. Growing to a height of just 9" or so, they are put to great use in the company of spring-blooming bulbs, disguising the fading foliage in a blanket of blue.
Beautiful in combination with Eschscholzia caespitosa. Both of these California natives are easy to grow and will self-sow, but will often cease to bloom in the heat of summer. Consider utilizing these species in the vegetable garden, where their fading blooms can make way for summer salad plants or autumn root vegetables.
Baby Blue Eyes are particularly striking grown with golden chard! Start the chard indoors early and transplant around the same time as sowing the seeds.
Nemophila species dislike being transplanted. Eager though we may be for their pretty flowers, they are best sown directly in to the garden in spring. You'll save little if any time starting them indoors. To grow in containers, sow seed directly into the pot, keep moist in bright light and thin as necessary.
Packet contains a minimum of 500 seeds.
